Key Expert- Product Configuration and Data Management: HV Switchgear Products
What this role offers:
This role is responsible for ensuring robust product configuration and data management across the HV Switchgears product portfolio (AIS and GIS), enabling accuracy, consistency, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle. The position closely interfaces with PLM, R&D/ Engineering, Offer Management, Finance and IT systems to maintain configuration rules, product structures, and master data integrity.
Key responsibilities include driving configuration accuracy, managing product data updates aligned with design and regulatory changes, and supporting digital tools for efficient product selection and offer generation. The role also involves identifying opportunities for process optimization, standardization, and automation within configuration and data management frameworks.
In addition, the role contributes to the development and maintenance of a centralized Knowledge Center, ensuring structured documentation, best practice sharing, and capability enhancement across teams. This supports organizational efficiency, reduces dependency risks, and strengthens overall product and process governance.
Key Responsibilities:
A) Product Configuration and Data Management:
- Development of Product Configuration system by establishing a robust knowledge base.
- Ensure accurate and robust product configuration aligned with technical specifications, business rules, and customer requirements.
- Maintain and govern product master data, configuration logic, and documentation across systems, ensuring integrity and consistency.
- Support the adoption and integration of self-learning and self-improving AI technologies to enhance configuration accuracy, speed, and decision-making. The configurator platform should be progressively enhanced based on number of configurations created and customized.
- Enable precise product costing within configurations, ensuring alignment with the latest cost structures and commercial frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, PLM, Offer/Order Management, and IT teams for seamless integration of product data and lifecycle updates.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable business rules, technical standards, and regulatory requirements within configuration systems.
B) Process enhancement and Digitalization:
- Drive process improvements focused on efficiency, standardization, and reduced response time to customer enquiries.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities within configuration and data management processes.
- Develop and maintain a structured database for cost monitoring, analysis, and benchmarking across products and variants.
- Provide insights to support cost optimization, competitive positioning, and strategic decision-making.
C) Knowledge Center:
- Lead a ‘Knowledge Center’ subfunction to support Offer and Order Management teams with technical expertise and structured documentation.
- Provide technical support for complex product configurations, bid preparation, and customer requirements.
- Support development of AI based self-learning and self-improving query management system, with self-answering and expert involvement decision making.
- Develop and deliver product trainings for internal teams and external partners to enhance technical competence and product understanding.
- Maintain and regularly update bid support documents, technical catalogs, and product literature. Develop an exhaustive documents library/ repository including technical documents, type test certificates, compliance documents, and product certifications to ensure readiness for customer and regulatory requirements.

- Bachelor / master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 15-20 years of working experience encompassing:
- Strong technical knowledge of High Voltage (HV) Switchgear products, including design principles, configurations, and applications.
- Solid understanding of product structures, technical specifications, costing principles, and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience in developing and managing Product Configurator solutions, supported by relevant tools and specialized training.
- Proficiency in handling configuration logic, master data, and integration with PLM/ERP/CPQ systems.
- Exposure to digitalization initiatives, automation, and AI-driven technologies for improving configuration accuracy and efficiency is highly desirable.
- Experience in market-facing roles (Sales, Offer Management, or Engineering) is an added advantage.
- Ability to understand and translate customer requirements into product configurations, ensuring alignment with product capabilities and business offerings.
- Strong capability in driving process improvements, standardization, and automation for faster and error-free responses.
- Experience in cost data management, benchmarking, and maintaining accurate product-related databases.
- High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy, integrity, and governance.
- Strong collaboration and networking skills to effectively engage with internal teams, global functions, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to align across diverse stakeholders on business requirements, product configuration rules, technical parameters, and regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to drive alignment and knowledge sharing.
- Experience in developing and maintaining knowledge repositories, technical documentation, and training materials.
- Ability to conduct product trainings and share technical knowledge effectively with internal teams and external partners.
