We are seeking an experienced Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer with 15-20 years of expertise in the field of power plant engineering. Lead Instrumentation Engineer for WHRS Power Plants oversees the design, engineering, selection, and integration of all instrumentation and control systems required for Waste Heat Recovery Systems and associated power generation equipment. The role ensures reliable measurement, control, and automation across boilers, turbines, BOP systems, and power plant auxiliaries.

You will drive engineering deliverables, vendor coordination, commissioning support, and quality compliance for WHRS projects.

Key Responsibilities:

         A. Instrumentation & Control Engineering

·       Lead preparation of engineering documents such as:

o   Instrument Index & I/O List

o   Instrument datasheets (pressure, flow, temp, level)

o   Control valve sizing & datasheets

o   Analyzer engineering (O₂, CO, NOx, stack gas analyzers)

o   Hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, wiring drawings

·       Design control logic for WHRS components:

o   Waste Heat Boilers

o   Steam turbine generator controls

o   Boiler feed water system

o   Condensate system, deaerator, cooling towers

o   Flue gas bypass dampers & draft control

·       Develop DCS/PLC control philosophies, cause & effect logic, start-up/shutdown sequences.

B. WHRS–Specific Responsibilities

·       Ensure accurate measurement & control for:

o   Gas flow, temperature, draft pressure in WHRS ducts

o   Economizer & evaporator instrumentation

o   Safety interlocks for bypass damper operation

o   Steam pressure/temperature control in turbine inlet

o   Lead the design and development of control systems and instrumentation for power plant projects.(Instrument List, IO List, Cable Schedule, etc)

o   Integrate instrumentation for high-temperature flue gas environments & ensure SIL compliance.

C. Project & Vendor Coordination

·       Prepare technical procurement specifications for:

o   Field instruments (DP transmitters, thermocouples, flowmeters, pressure switches etc.)

o   Control valves

o   DCS/PLC/SCADA systems

o   Gas analyzers & vibration monitoring systems

·       Evaluate vendor bids and perform technical compliance.

·       Oversee vendor FAT, system integration tests, and construction support.

D. Site Support & Commissioning

·       Support erection, installation, calibration, and loop testing.

·       Troubleshoot control loops in WHRS boilers/HRSG and steam turbine systems.

·       Support cold and hot commissioning of WHRS power plant.

·       Ensure proper integration of control systems (DCS/PLC/Turbine Control System).

E. Leadership

·       Guide to junior engineers and designers.

·       Monitor discipline schedule, budget, and deliverable quality.

       F.Vendor Management:

    • Evaluate and vet vendor offers and technical drawings for control and instrumentation equipment.
    • Review and approve vendor specifications to ensure they meet project requirements.
    • Engage in technical discussions and negotiate with vendors to ensure alignment with project goals.

    G. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation including engineering specifications, datasheets, and test procedures.
    • Keep accurate records of all project modifications and updates.
    • Provide regular progress reports to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech) in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 15-20 years of experience in control and instrumentation engineering, specifically within the power plant industry.
  • Proficiency in control system design and instrumentation, with experience in DCS, PLC, SCADA, and other control systems.
  • Familiarity with power plant engineering principles and operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant industry standards such as IEC, ISA, and NFPA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
  • Certification in control systems or instrumentation engineering.
  • Experience with advanced control and automation techniques.
  • Knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards in power plant operations.
