Software Verification and Validation Manager - Rail Infrastructure

Job Description

Siemens Mobility is looking for a multifaceted manager for leading its continuous Verification & Validation activities. As Manager of Software V&V, you are accountable for definition, planning, and control of the software engineering team. Our department consists of a group of 30+ developers and testers working in Scrum Teams or a shared pool of resources. The position reports to the Software Manager of Onboard Systems.

As a transformational leader, you will facilitate and support us in the definition of a detailed and sustainable V&V strategy, addressing software quality goals and Onboard Systems Project Requirements. You will evangelize the organization about principles of continuous V&V, maximizing our chances of successful adoption and securing realization of benefits. When needed, you can jump on action to lead Verification and Validation efforts. You are continuously focusing on achieving solutions to interpersonal challenges, conducting problem-solving, or implementing state-of-art systems & tools. You will create and maintain all V&V process documents including work instructions, templates and desk procedures. Ideally, you are a leader of people and very comfortable with coaching, mentoring and on-the-job training.

Job Functions:

  • Provide leadership/mentorship and coordinating test activities, schedule and resources, incident management and tracking. Manage major / complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products
  • Coordinate Software V&V activities between Onboard Software teams, Functional Testing, Systems Engineering and any 3rd party teams, to ensure timelines and deliverables are completed on schedule and issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Support definition of new products - implementing operational profiles, preparing for test, executing test, and guiding the test. Support the Validation / qualification of third-party software components and tools used for software development and verification/validation
  • Drive drafting of verification and validation plans, protocols, summary reports, trace matrix and other related technical documentation
  • Provide transparency to trace matrix test coverage and test progress for programs
  • Plan, develop and execute software testing (both manual and automated) for Onboard Systems, based on context and risks associated with the project
  • Participate in design and requirements reviews, analysis and support the development of documentation required for FRA approval
  • Participate in other quality assurance functions, including, but not limited to, process audits, analysis, risk/hazard analysis, and Verification test automation development
  • Participate in Defect / Issue Management and Change Control Boards, as appropriate
  • System level design, requirements and safety risk assessments at all levels of product development
  • Participate in requirement review, verification test design
  • Creation and maintenance of test automation to support regression testing

Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Process Automation or Electrical engineering or experience that is equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience, significant records in leading V&V or QA of SW products or regulated devices
  • Proven ability working with Agile.
  • Implemented successful continuous V&V strategies
  • Knowledgeable with Continuous Integration/Continuous Design (CI/CD), Test Driver Development (TDD), test automation, and configuration management
  • A strong commitment to on-time delivery and first-time correctness.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 20% of the time)
  • Excellent problem solving and situational adaptive experience.
