We're looking for dedicated Manual and CNC Machinists with the skills and vision to build a better tomorrow. Join our manufacturing team where you will operate a variety of machine tools according to manufacturing and engineering specifications and/or set-up less complex (i.e. saws, straddle mills etc.) machine tools. You will work as part of a team to ensure that all projects are completed safely, correctly and meet customer expectations. You will be expected to follow and promote all safety and quality directives in support of Siemens commitment to be the “Industry’s Premier Service Provider”.
If selected for this position you would be assigned to work on either 2nd or 1st shift at our Rural Hall, NC facility.
What are your other responsibilities?
You would be responsible for the material/product machined from the time of machining until it reaches the end customer. It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure parts are conforming not only to print specifications but visually as well when being sent to the next operation. Errors not caught immediately may result in product failure and/or significant customer impact.
Requisition necessary tooling and gauging from tool crib.
Interpret Engineering Drawings, Blueprints and other Technical Data as provided by engineering.
Rough and finish machining a variety of parts.
Identify parts machined with hand etcher or dot peen machine deburr parts, as required.
Mark and/or record production information, manually or using computer equipment, as required.
Notify supervision of irregularities or equipment malfunctions.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
For saw operations: Check corresponding test reports for all steel pulled. Access Traveler to determine proper sizes of bar stock to be sawed.
Maintain inventory records for steel; charge to appropriate order, as required
What do you need to qualify for this role?
High school diploma for GED equivalent is required – AAS Degree in Machining Technology is preferred (or equivalent experience)
Requires the ability to read, write, complete simple forms, and understand simple written instructions.
Requires the ability to perform arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, including decimals and fractions.
Could require simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, or diagrams.
Familiarity of CNC Machines desirable, 1-2 years’ experience in a machine or repair shop is preferred
What are the physical demands of this position?
Moderate physical effort required with bending, stretching, walking, and standing. Gripping and grasping tools is common, as is using of mechanical controls such as buttons, knobs, and levers. Some repetitive motion is involved in the execution of job tasks. A crane is available for lifting and carrying bar stock, fixtures, or cutting tools, some of which may weigh up to 50 pounds; tasks involving such weights are performed routinely. A-frames, chip cans, toolboxes, and pallets weighing up to 1000 pounds must occasionally be pushed/pulled.
Constant mental and visual attention required to perform repetitive and variable responsibilities. Normal or corrected vision and hearing required.
