What you will do for Siemens Mobility:

As the Head of the Wayside Project Management portfolio, you will ensure the success of the business by managing a team of dedicated Project Managers and be an integral member of our Wayside Engineering team. In this role, you will manage, mentor, support and develop your team in managing projects according to defined Project Management policies, guidelines, programs and standards in accordance to the overall strategic targets.

We are seeking someone with a minimum of 10 - 15 years of combined experience and skills working on sophisticated projects in the rail industry. Our ideal candidate is someone with an Electrical Engineering background who has validated experience generating financial analyses and making the decisions on the allocation of resources throughout the projects.

Outstanding time management skills are vital in this role as it is necessary for balancing multiple regional requests simultaneously.

This role will be based out of our Louisville, KY office for collaboration with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams as well as the Head of Wayside Engineering.

Responsibilities:

Your focus will be on the development of your team as you champion our PM@Siemens implementation and ensure the governance is followed in all Wayside projects. You will also maintain constant communication with our customers and partners, while supervising the status of all assigned projects. In addition, we would seek your budget planning expertise to allocate financial and personnel resources to meet targets and milestones along the way.

Specific tasks include:

  • Provide lead technical guidance for strategic projects executed by our Mobility business
  • Drive and influence technology, technical value streams or technical processes within own field of expertise according to a strategic roadmap that impacts the business
  • Typically supports business units, segments, or regional solutions business, respectively
  • Take ownership for your technology field including ground-breaking technologies
  • Train and coach others in the organization in their domain of expertise
  • Review and develop solution concepts around Siemens and 3rd party products, determining solution costs, quantifying project execution risks, and service concepts
  • Additionally, this function provides pre-order technical support to Sales Teams during the selling cycle

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Externally recognized technology specialist in the respective field who utilizes his/her network
  • Minimum 10 years shown experience with multi-year and multi-million dollar successful project management
  • PMI/EPMA Project Management Certification
  • Contract Management and Scheduling
  • Team Management and Development
  • Financial budgeting and reporting
  • Upholding quality standards

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Proven business insight
  • Negotiation capabilities
  • Strong team orientation
  • Project management experience
  • Risk management
  • Self-motivated to produce high quality results within the time allocated, with limited supervision
  • Advanced user of MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Project
