Specialized Field Service Engineer - Orlando

The Specialty Field Service Engineer is a Service Engineering role that reports to the Siemens Generation Services Field Technology Services group. This is a direct contributor position responsible for providing technical field services for Siemens steam and combustion turbine-generators and associated auxiliary systems. Services will include commissioning, fact finding, troubleshooting, and periodic support of new unit installations. 

This engineer will need will need to have hands on experience in one or more of the following technical skill areas:

  • Vibration Analysis / Field Balancing / Modal Analysis

  • Metrology & Alignment / Portable CMM

  • CT Commissioning / Combustion Dynamics & Emissions Tuning / Auxiliary systems

  • ST Commissioning / Valve Stroking & Timing / Auxiliary Systems

  • Generator Commissioning / Seal Oil Systems / Stator Water Systems 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that working conditions are safe at all times.

  • Will communicate with Siemens business units and customers to determine requirements and provide support and information to our customers.

  • Required to travel frequently to both US based and International customer sites to investigate customer problems.

  • Will conduct failure investigations and monitor customer complaints and concerns to ensure the customer receives a satisfactory solution.

  • Have flexibility to work overtime based on workload and have the ability to work both independently and within a team environment with the ability to lead the team.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Experience, and Education

  • A minimum of 5 years as a mechanical field service engineer, commissioning engineer, vibration engineer, or metrology engineer on Siemens steam and/or combustion turbine-generators and associated auxiliary systems.

  • BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software particularly Excel and Word.

  • Ability to write detailed technical reports for engineering analysis and review.

  • Willingness to travel to customer sites with little to no advance notice.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to lead a crew of mechanics and interface with multiple levels of customer organizations.

  • Good verbal communication skills with the ability to fluently speak, write, and read in English.

  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.

  • Ability to 80% travel required, domestic USA and international.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Previous field service experience in the Power Generation Industry.

  • Client facing skills are a valuable plus.

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and well organized.

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical field service and commissioning of Siemens steam and/or combustion turbine-generators and associated auxiliary systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of Siemens steam and/or combustion turbine-generator operations.

  • Advanced knowledge of vibration analysis, field balancing and modal analysis.

  • Advanced knowledge of metrology, alignment and portable CMM.

  • Familiar with the Siemens NA FSF and Engineering organizations supporting the Siemens turbine-generator fleets.

  • Basic knowledge of T3K control system is beneficial.
