What will you do?
Leads the design and implementation of EHS programs to address government regulations/standards and ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards, fully addressing their implications on Trench Limited’s facilities.
Leads the evaluation of EHS performance at Trench Limited and develops regulatory reporting while ensuring implementation of Global EHS strategies and initiatives.
Oversees comprehensive health and safety and loss management programs (including W.S.I.B claims management and modified work programs).
Provide technical advice and guidance to Management and employees on EHS issues including but not limited to ergonomics, environmental concerns; evaluate health and safety procedures in areas such as incident investigation and emergency preparedness and response.
Assess EHS training development needs in partnership with managers and provide training recommendations; develop actions plans and deliver training as required.
Analyze workplace practices and processes, in collaboration with local management team to determine EHS requirements.
Ensure that EHS audits and inspections are performed, as well lead any related action plans.
Participate on Joint H&S committees as required and develop and implement programs directed at supporting internal Responsibility in the management of workplace safety.
Work with the IAPA “Safety Group” to achieve completion of annual elements.
What will you need to succeed?
Undergraduate degree from a recognized university specializing in the field of occupational health and safety and/or environmental management
Over 4 years of EHS managerial experience within a manufacturing facility is required.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, MOL and MOE Regulations, other related regulatory requirements as well as ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 principles.
Must possess the Canadian Registered Safety Professional and/or Environmental Practitioner designation or must be willing and able to obtain them.
Must be certified to act as a representative of management on H&S committees, or willing and able to obtain the certification.
Knowledge of wellness programs are an asset.
Proficiency in using computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) is required and familiarity using an H.R.I.S. system is an asset.
Must have a professional and positive attitude, excellent work ethic with a strong desire to learn and succeed.
Ability and maturity to work proactively, with minimal supervision, and handle confidential matters in a discreet manner is required. Must also demonstrate strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
