Production/Inventory Supervisor - Rail Infrastructure

Position Overview

Siemens Mobility in Pittsburgh is looking for an Inventory Control Specialist that is detail oriented with a focus on processes, root cause analysis and has a sharp eye for problem solving. This position will be a Supervisor role with direct reports and includes Inventory, Shipping and Receiving department.

The inventory control specialist will be responsible for activities and processes related to inventory control - including but not limited to coordinating the cycle count program, being responsible for the use of Kardex machines, production order control and maintenance, engaging with the VMI/bulk program and having the responsibility to supervise completed assemblies for shipment.

This position will report directly to the Production Manager and will interact closely with Plant Controlling, Procurement, production floor employees, scheduling, logistic, quality and other departments that interact with Operations on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the cycle count program in alignment with the Siemens Cycle Count Standards
  • Full ownership of Point of Use Material
  • Route cause analysis on inventory and shipping discrepancies
  • Ensure seamless flow of finished goods from Stock Room through Shipping
  • Driving the initiative of Inventory depletion together with Plant Controlling
  • Coordinate the counts and recounts with the Storeroom Personnel
  • Approve accurate counts
  • Investigate, reconcile and root cause incorrect counts
  • Maintain daily/weekly metrics and reports
  • Determine strategic count strategy
  • Development of Employees

VMI/Bulk Material

  • Work with the Procurement for VMI/bulk material to coordinate with the shop floor regarding bin sizes, stock outs, spike orders, etc

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent inventory/manufacturing experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in an inventory/manufacturing role

  • Must be able to jump from task to task

  • Must be very self-organized and self-motivated

  • Must be able to lead and improve a team through daily communication

  • Problem solving mentality

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Previous use of Kardex or other similar automated storage and retrieval solutions

  • Extensive SAP Experience

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Basic knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word)
