Siemens Healthineers Molecular Imaging is seeking an engineer/scientist as a summer intern for its Clinical Applications research team based in our Tennessee headquarters. The team is responsible for identifying and solving molecular imaging research challenges relevant to clinicians and aligned with Siemens Healthineers objectives. This involves developing clinically meaningful software innovations in PET, SPECT, and related applications, and helping to transfer them into product solutions.
This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for:
You will be responsible for developing algorithms and clinical software prototypes. This will involve understanding both the technical and clinical challenges, concept design, software development, and rigorous testing. In doing so, you will work closely with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers and physicians.
Required skills to have for the success of this role
- Graduate student or senior undergraduate student in computer science / electrical engineering / biomedical engineering or related field.
- Programming proficiency with Python or similar
- Signal processing, image processing and computer vision expertise.
- · Ability to write clean, well-documented code.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Knowledge of medical imaging (SPECT, PET, CT, DICOM, coordinate systems, image registration, etc.).
- MATLAB and C++ programming experience.
- Working knowledge of industrial approaches of software development (e.g. agile), software development lifecycles, version control solutions, quality assurance, system testing, project management.
Stare date: May/June 2021; 3-month duration.
