Job Description

The 3D simulation team of Siemens Digital Industries Software develops Simcenter 3D, a fully integrated simulation platform for modeling, simulating and analyzing of complex engineering products and systems. To strengthen its Simcenter 3D RTD Materials Engineering team in Leuven, Siemens Digital Industries Software is looking for a researcher with a solid Numerical Simulation (CAE) and Materials Engineering background.

The position is within a team of researchers and experts in composites material modeling and numerical methods development for Manufacturing/Performance simulations. The main role of the candidate will be to support projects execution with both running application cases and creating automation scripts to make CAE workflows more efficient. In this role, the candidate will contribute to the execution of both commercial and externally funded research projects in the RTD Materials Engineering team. She/he will hence give support in developing the simulation technology roadmap related to the influence of composites manufacturing process on the material properties determining the composite parts structural performance.

The work is challenging and highly multidisciplinary since the candidate will work with different Siemens Digital Industries Software tools to develop solutions for different multi-physics & material multi-scale driven problems (structural, material characterization, flow, thermal…).
The candidate will contribute to the design and development and validation of proof-of-concept CAE toolsets; participates and contributes to internal and external technical meetings (with partners and customers) to discuss new developments and project status; creates method reports, deliverables and presentations; designs and scripts functionalities as jointly defined with the project manager; supports the definition of tests to validate new developments.

Candidate requirements:

  • MSc in Mechanical and/or Materials Engineering
  • Practical experience in composites structural analysis & influence of manufacturing on composites material properties
  • Good knowledge of FE solvers and CAE pre-processing
  • High interest in and good programming / scripting skills
  • Has a structured approach to work with the ability to efficiently organize and prioritize workload
  • Motivated team player with good interpersonal and strong problem-solving skills
  • Shows adaptive communication skills and behavior
  • Fluent in English
