Purpose Organizes, controls and monitors all procurement activities in a production environment and improves procurement strategies targeting maximum contribution to the operating result and customer satisfaction.
Job Family Specific
Develops and supports procurement strategies in production based on established procurement strategies and ensures their timely implementation. Guides and supports the establishment of proper sourcing processes and control of procurement resources and activities for optimum performance, and to meet delivery deadlines and quality standards for production materials. Guides the implementation of procurement strategies into the operations process. As part of a team, completes analysis on the scope of supply, implements customer contract agreements and supply chain risk and develops recommendations for improvements. Implement the sales and operations plan in respect of production materials, starting/new product projects into production, and assessing and controlling of material costs within the whole supply chain process (Total Cost of Ownership – TCO). Guides the identification of risks, opportunities and market forces during the lifecycle of the product to avoid potential damage and/or exploit potential opportunities. Supports contract and price negotiations. Maintains and updates Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and presents to senior management on a regular basis.
Independently performs advanced areas of work for the professional field. Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently. Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.
BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of management of EMS (Contract Manufacturers) or other direct suppliers in a production environment leading to the successful completion of sometimes complex assignments. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of management of direct suppliers. Demonstrates significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues. Able to read a contract and understand what is required, and how to implement such an agreement. Knowledge of SAP and experience in an FDA controlled environment is a plus, but is not a “must-have” for this position.
Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
Primarily external supplier contacts, including business development and operation management, and internal customers in planning, sales, and engineering.
Must also be able to support intra-organizational contacts, including international locations and agendas.
Ability to travel 10% - 20%

Provide specialized guidance, train, and/or support other professional staff in the group. Leadership qualities and role model qualities must be demonstrated.
