This individual will manage OEM / Contract manufactured products / suppliers including ensuring our commercial products meet Siemens standards for Quality, Supply, Delivery & Cost. The OEM Key Relationship Manager is responsible for end to end supply chain ownership for the OEM suppliers which he/she manages including management of the packaging, shipment mode and timing, import compliance requirements, and all unique characteristics of the materials to ensure efficient and cost effective production and delivery to POC designated warehouses. The main objective is to maximize the contribution to operating revenue and profit (i.e., continuous improvement (CNI), lowest standard product cost (SPC)), and optimize the purchasing and procurement processes for each supplier.
In addition, the Key Relationship Manager will collaborate routinely with cross functional teams to highlight and resolve product quality issues, reducing product costs, introduce new designs and alternate sources, modify manufacturing processes, and consistently work towards consistent improvement in all areas. They will also work with new product development Core Team Leaders regarding the technical requirements during early stage new product introductions and / or implementation of legacy product design changes at contract manufacturing firms. Related to the pursuits listed above the Key Relationship Manager will introduce, negotiate, implement, track, and manage multi-year supplier contracts with designated strategic, high dollar, and critical material suppliers.
Establishing / implementing / managing strategic sourcing strategies consistent with commodity and supplier management direction for a team of technically based engineers and biochemists functioning as part of commercial Product Health Teams or New Product Core Teams. Interface to R&D scientists and R&D functional Business Unit management (POC, Business Development) to provide technology strategy and collaborative input for procurement positioning, supplier selection, risk management, supply agreement and approach decisions, strategic supplier consolidation, and deliver interface and network back into strategic procurement organization for long term business benefit. The Key Relationship Manager will participate in supplier audits and lead change management with the OEM supply base.
SAP knowledge is a plus.
Participates in the creation and effective implementation of supply chain processes and purchasing specifications with the supplier. Involves systematic troubleshooting of complex manufacturing and supplier issues related to Siemens OEM products to identify process issues related to undesirable product performance and identify resolutions for those issues. The Key Relationship Manager will be responsible to participate in root cause analysis efforts, identify process/equipment improvements, and work with OEM manufacturers to drive continuous improvement activities to meet quality, cost, and supply requirements.
BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates significant knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues. Typically 8-10 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Knowledge, management, and administration of supplier contracts is beneficial. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
Direction of Others:
Provide specialized guidance or train support and/or professional staff. Leadership qualities and role model qualities to lead project teams demonstrated.
Key Working Relationships:
Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts. Supplier management, relationship, and partnership building skills are essential.
