We are looking for an experienced hardware design engineer to develop, support and maintain the business’ existing range HW Speed Adapters for PCI Express and for future interconnect protocols. The activities of this position ranges from architectural design, over specification and actual implementation of a solution to testing it on the targeted hardware platforms. After productizing a solution supporting them together with technical field teams at the customer completes the responsibilities of the position.
Insight & requirements:
Our Solutions team is geographically dispersed so the future incumbent has to be self-motivated and work well-structured without daily guidance in achieving projects goals. This role can be based in the UK or Germany.
The engineer filling this position should have proven experience with designing synthesizable Verilog RTL code targeting FPGAs. This includes simulating and debugging RTL code, preferably in Mentor Graphics’ Questa, but not essential, as well as testing on a FPGA-based HW platform. Successfully applying a timing- and resource-constrained design flow for achieving timing closure when running SPNR with Xilinx Vivado and Intel PSG (fka. Altera) Quartus is also part of the regular activities in this position.
It is desirable that this engineers has worked with hardware emulation systems, preferably Mentor Graphics’ Veloce. A bonus would be, if this engineer understands hardware-software co-modelling techniques.
Possession of working PCI Express knowledge up to at least Gen3 required. System-level knowledge about architectures, CPU operation and operation system functions of state-of-the-art computer systems is desirable.
Ability to and be comfortable with communicating in multi-national and multi-cultural team. It is absolutely mandatory to communicate professionally and effectively – in verbal and written form – in customer support situations. Very good English language skills are a pre-requisite for this position.
As working on such solutions often requires working with and for other colleagues, team-spirit and interacting in a constructive manner is a must. Taking over leadership in a complex FPGA design modelling projects and testing such designs is very much desirable. Such leadership also includes the ability to communicate and describe technical concepts and complex technical issues in a concise manner – both at a sufficiently abstract level as well as at an accurate, detailed level.
