Welding Director

We’re a leading global provider of short-distance, regional and long-distance rolling stock, as well as product and system solutions for passenger and freight transport. We are adding a Director of Light Rail and Locomotive Weld Engineer will be responsible  plans, schedule’s and manages welding production in the Light rail and Locomotive Business Units at our manufacturing campus in Sacramento California. In this role, you will ensure weld manufacturing performance is safe and meeting goals in the core areas of cost, quality and on-time deliveries for a multi project environment while leading and motivating a high performing team of 200 individual contributors.

What you will be doing:

Leading a team of supervisors and Managers to reach ever higher goals with their teams.

 Ensure that departments correctly and properly administer safety programs, to safeguard the health and welfare of the employees.

Meat production schedule for multiple projects in multiple areas.

Improve production budgets for multiple projects in multiple areas. 

Supervise and directs the production process so vehicle products conform to the tolerances and specifications established by the quality and engineering departments.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation.

Prepare and participate in BOD review meetings.

Report, in the prescribed format and as scheduled, the results of the execution of responsibilities.

What you need to be successful in this role:

Be able to build lead and motivate a diverse group of welders through reporting managers.

Extensive experience in managing production teams of welders in a high growth environment.

Track record of success in managing KPI’s including safety, budget, schedule and headcount.

Demonstrated ability to drive and improve results.

We would be impressed if you had:

Master’s degree with focus on manufacturing, engineering or business fields.

Welding centric rail manufacturing experience.

Ten or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in SAP ERP systems.
