Siemens in New Kensington, PA, is looking for a Dynamic Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software on new and existing embedded systems. We are looking for someone that has experience with hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded systems.
Completes a wide variety of complex technical assignments. Performs complex tests or investigations pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, and processes and investigates possible application of results.
Acquires, correlates, and analyzes technical information needed to accomplish sophisticated tasks.
Completes the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and other documents. Reviews and approves related inputs such as sophisticated drawings and specifications prepared by technical support personnel. Coordinates with engineering support to arrange for the production of complex experimental runs or for the construction of experimental models and special test equipment.
The ability to understand, modify, create Linux drivers
3-6 years of successful experience in related field.
Experience using test equipment, such as Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Familiarity with, or experience with most or all of the following:
Open Source software.
Linux kernel configuration, patching, building, toolchain flow, and custom recipes.
HDL using Xilinx or other development environment.
Embedded Linux firewalls and Linux administration.
Custom desktop and/or embedded toolchains and build systems.
Board support packages.
Communication protocols: serial, TCP, USB, I2C.
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with software development emphasis) or equivalent specializing in Embedded Software Development is required.
