Hardware Support Engineer-Emu

Job Description

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

• BS degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology or related field

• Must have exposure to Microsoft Windows and Office Tools

• Must have exposure to Linux for installation, upgrades and driver installations.

• Must have the ability to follow technical directions, both in writing, and verbally

• Must have good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal

• Must be able to communicate well with colleagues in other locations

• Must possess customer service skills.

• Must have prior experience in the troubleshooting and repair of complex electronics hardware

• Experience in the handling of electronics parts (proper grounding procedures, etc)

• Physical strength, ability to move 70 pounds

• Strong understanding of electronic HW circuits and their functional performance

• Detailed technical analysis capability

• Process-oriented thinking and experience in medium-large organizations with repeatable processes

• Ability to understand how to run Manufacturing Test Software tools, and interpret results

• Ability to generate and/or maintain test scripts and reporting tools

• Experience in installing electronics boards into compute servers and running tests to verify functionality

• Experience in doing electronics firmware and OS updates

• Experience handling spares and managing spares and administering RMA procedures

Position Overview

Mentor’s Information Technology department strategically supports our engineers and corporate staff in more than 80 offices and R&D centres around the globe. This position will be based out of Shanghai and will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Install & Support Mentor Emulation hardware at customer sites

o Install Emulator hardware at customer sites

o OS Installations and upgrades on Veloce emulation/co-model hosts

o Veloce PCI card installation on emulator hosts o Follow support request process to track service requests

o Run remote diagnostics where applicable to identify problem

o Travel to customer sites with spare hardware and replace failed boards

o Jointly troubleshoot issues with mentor colleagues as required

o Run diagnostics post hardware replacement to validate normal operation

o Send failure reports to Veloce hardware backend team

o Communicate with customer on progress and status

o Pickup failed hub inventory and get back to Hub o Box and tag customer failed inventory and locate them in the customer designated failed section and advice customer o Follow ticket procedures and update IT time tracking

• Administer Spares Inventory

o Administer emulator spares inventory in Cambridge. Track receipt, issue and failure return.

o Provide quarterly or on-demand inventory reports to logistics team

o Reduce turnaround time for failed boards to be shipped back to factory for both hub and customer failed inventory

o Advice customer on RMA process/procedure

o Sync up with logistics team to support RMA procedures

o Support shipment of failed Hub inventory back to factory for repair
