Position Overview

Siemens PTI is seeking a Power Systems Planning Consultant to perform large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for clients such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations. We service clients in the following territories: Houston, Schenectady, NY, Minnetonka, Minnesota, Fairfax, VA, Foster City, California.

Potential experiences include
  • Learn application of power systems planning principles
  • Perform simulation and analysis of power system steady state and dynamic behavior
  • Develop mathematical models for reliability assessment of electrical networks,
  • Participate in delivery of on-site technical consulting/training services
  • Work on small to medium sized, single projects, in a single computer environment where design is semi-complex
  • Prepare weekly status reports on all project activities
  • Produce draft reports and presentations with study results for the review of supervisors
  • Participate in pre-sales support as needed
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Systems Engineering
  • GPA minimum of 3.0
  • Familiarity with advanced power system analysis tools and calculations
  • Knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow, transient stability, and electromagnetic transients
  • Programming skills are preferred
