Embedded Linux Developer (Mid-senior) - Brno

Job Description

At our Siemens Advanta R&D Center we are focused on a product development including software development, hardware development, mechanical design and testing for the next generation concept of Industry 4.0.


We would like to invite you to cooperate on the development of industrial automation products. We focus on complete product development and integration across the entire control system. Currently we start a new topic of a modular system based on the Mentor Linux. On one side connected to the industry world and on the other connected to the cloud. System is deployable on various architectures including virtualization server.

Your task will be:
  • Work on a design and architecture of the modular system
  • Develop in C/C++, unit test, integrate, benchmark, and document embedded software
  • Development of kernel drivers and do changes or add functionality in Linux kernel
  • Collaborate on platform configuration
  • Collaborate on DevOps activities (Continuous Integration, Continuous Development, Test Automation)
  • Collaborate with other Software Engineers on local or Europe level to define interaction between subsystems and components

What we will appreciate from you:
  • Experiences with Embedded C/C++
  • Experiences with development for Linux, creation of Linux drivers
  • Experience in embedded programming for different processors (x86/Arm64)
  • Experience in development under real-time operating systems
  • Knowledge of versioning systems
  • Knowledge of UML
  • Possibility to travel
  • English intermediate
As advantage:
  • Knowledge and experience on contribution in OSS communities (e. g. changes Linux Kernel or Linux Drivers)
  • Orientation in communication protocols
  • Experiences with DevOps – continuous development, continuous integration, etc.
  • Experiences with implementation of architecture in Enterprise Architect or another alternative
  • Experiences with Docker
  • Experiences with Hypervisor
  • Knowledge of OOP and Design or Architecture patterns
  • Knowledge or experiences in Cloud Services
