About the Road Site Unit project:
The Road Side Unit is the first step towards driverless mobility. It allows a wireless exchange of information between vehicles and the transport infrastructure. This system can transmit data about the timing of the red or green lights at intersections, recommended speed, obstacles on the road, and information about traffic accidents. Drivers should therefore reach their destinations faster and more safely.

What does your future team look like?
The entire team is based in Brno and comprises five developers, two testers and a technical product owner. We are responsible for developing embedded devices that facilitate communication between the transport infrastructure and (not only) automobiles. It all runs on GNU Linux, is built on Yocto and Bitbake, and the architecture is ARM 64. The application part is written in C++. We have a modern web-based UI in React. All developers on the team have Linux on their work laptops.

  • ITS-G5, DSRC, C-V2X – protocols for communication with vehicles
  • Networking (IPv4, IPv6, Wireshark, routing, OpenVPN)
  • Security (PKI, OP-TEE, security hardening)
  • systemd, D-Bus
  • Scripts in Bash, auxiliary tools in Python
  • Git, Gitlab and Gitlab CI
What do you need to become a member of the team?
  • You know Linux very well.
  • You know how to develop in C++ and how to script (in Python or Bash).
  • You can communicate in English (participation in calls, emails, the inputs and outputs of your work will be in English).
  • You are not afraid to explore the unknown.
  • New technology is what drives you.
  • You have team spirit and a sense of humour (sometimes very dark).
What will your tasks be?
  • To design and implement the expansion of the product’s functionalities;
  • To monitor the latest trends and to apply them in our work;
  • To learn, to experiment, to come up with ideas and not to be afraid to ask for help;
  • To accelerate the deployment of intelligent traffic systems in everyday life; and
  • To collaborate with developers and testers at our R&D centres in Brno, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, and Austria.
