As an IT Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for the development and support of new and existing installations within the Vehicle Measurement group.  You will report to the VEMS Team Lead work alongside a team comprised of IT infrastructure, software, electronic, firmware and mechanical Engineers.  Our work is solution and systems Engineering, working together to design and realise product solutions through the whole PLM lifecycle: sales, concepts, bids, design, manufacture, testing and customer acceptance. The position will be based in our Belmont office in Perth.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Implementation of IT architecture for new installations
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting and support of new and existing installations
  • Develop concepts for new architecture, detailing solutions with the required functionality
  • Follow guidelines, processes and procedures surrounding safety, budget and priorities
  • Generate documentation and monitoring software for new designs
  • Research into future system development
  • Support other business units: Production, Service, Sales etc

  • Problem-solving and multitasking
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent relevant commercial experience
  • 1 - 5 years’ experience in the use of computers in industrial / technical applications
  • Networking: Routing and switching knowledge / Managed switches / VPN / Wireshark / Tcpdump / Firewall
  • Operating System: Windows Server 2012 R2 / 2019 / CentOS Linux 6/7 / QNX
  • Virtualization Knowledge: Linux KVM / VMware ESX 6.7 / VirtualBox
  • Scripting Knowledge: Power shell / Bash Shell scripting / Python/PHP / OS build automation/auditing / Software version control tools (CVS/Subversion/Git)
  • Troubleshooting skills: Root cause analysis / Performance tuning and monitoring
  • Server Hardware: Dell / HPE
  • Storage: NAS technology (Synology, QNAP) / Samba/CIFS / NFS / SFTP / Familiarity with RAID technology

Beneficial Experience:

  • Working experience in C++ and Python preferred (other experience will be considered, but must demonstrate ability and desire to learn) 
  • Experience interfacing software with hardware devices such as GPS receivers, DIO cards, cameras, DAQ and microcontrollers
  • Working within a quality management system
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting site installations
  • Organising collaborative reviews around risk, concept, design etc
