Job Description

CWI Inspector 2 High school or equivalent. Seven to 10 years experience. Five or more years experience with CWI inspection of increasingly difficult inspection involving the application and working knowledge of sophisticated measuring techniques. Complex dimensional, drawing and weld standard interpretation experience AWS Certified Weld Inspector certification required. - Performs a wide variety of inspections in the production/assembly/source process through final assembly inspection. - Follows general inspection guidelines to conduct critical non-routine visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical and functional inspections on a wide variety of components, assemblies, equipment, systems, supplies and materials. - Performs and instruct others in critical inspection procedures, requiring special set-ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources. - May conduct first article inspection of parts, assemblies, equipment and tooling and provide summary reports and diagnostics - Ability to enter, maintain and extract information from Material Resource Planning, noncompliance tracking tools and Configuration management System. Works on assignments, with generally little to no supervision required with only a set of goals established. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Works on less routine or more complex inspection projects and must sometimes sythesize requirements and recommends dispositions May provide training and instructions to lower level employees. Interfaces with Assembly Supervisory Staff, Purchasing Staff, suppliers and customer inspectors. Significant role in acceptance and progress of work. Erroneous decisions or actions can cause up to serious delays, inefficiencies or additional expenses impacting a project or the department. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Directs lower level employees in daily work activities and completion of work orders.
