Position Overview

Siemens Mobility’s Customer Services Division is hiring a Head of Procurement, North America to support our thriving organization. Our business has doubled in size over the past few years and continues to grow at a rapid pace.!  As a member of the leadership team within Mobility North America Procurement, you will be on point for safeguarding a market leading supply chain management performance at competitive costs derived from business requirements. In this exciting role, you will have overall strategic procurement responsibility for Siemens Mobility Customer Services in the USA; orchestrating department strategy, utilizing both global and regional category as well as supplier strategies to ensure a reliable, cost effective, digitally focused best in class organization. In addition, the position is responsible for compliance in local project procurement including peer to peer and for implementing Siemens governance principles. The role is based in beautiful and affordable, Sacramento, California.


What you will be doing:

Define and implement strategic procurement activities (maintenance projects, vendor managed inventory, refurbishment, and aftermarket parts) 

 Drive cross-functional cost reduction initiatives in bids and projects (lifecycle of up to 30 years)

 Lead a diverse and growing team of 10+ category- and project procurement managers, scaling efficiently to address the expanding business pipeline

 Engage in and utilize a global procurement network of category managers and project procurement managers

 Ensure an industry leading sourcing process, incl. control of the spend and ensuring purchase-to-pay compliance

 Drive Continuous Improvement & digitalization both within the team and the supply chain.

Monitor supply market conditions.

Develop, manage and engage preferred suppliers to drive supplier innovation and performance.

Manage all demands from internal customers (incl. development and definition of customer’s functional needs, analysis of scope of supply, professional stakeholder management, and risk analysis from contractual obligations).

Identify and manage procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, and claims during the entire lifecycle of a project.

 Support project calculation with reliable and up-to-date cost analysis.

What you will need to be successful:

10+ yrs experience as a Procurement professional

 Leadership - 5+ years of experience in people management role

 Profound knowledge of supply chain management

 Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders across the businesses.

Proven international experience in collaboration and strong cross-functional collaboration skills in an international organization.

Ability to build trust and confidence quickly and professionally.

Adhere to our core values of being humble, hard working, with the innate ability to execute

 Accomplishing strategic and tactical tasks getting by being smart with regards to people, processes &

 problem solving.

Good knowledge of electronic auctions & bids (e-Auction / e-Bid).

 Interest in Digital & Automating solutions.

 Language: English

We would be impressed if you had:

Rail Industry experience

Master Level Degree
