This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As an Industrial Designer/Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • In your activities you will work closely with designers and engineers to generate concepts for products and user interaction features and help bring them to life.
  • You will translate design concept sketches and renderings into CAD models, mock-ups, prototypes, and help ready them for production.
  • You will help determine materials, processes, part break-up, assembly details, and develop concepts for mechanisms related to customer interactions.
  • You will coordinate with prototype and production suppliers and technical teams throughout design detailing, prototyping, and into production.

  • You have completed studies as an Industrial Designer, or Mechanical Engineer and have extensive experience working closely with industrial design teams to develop high quality, beautifully engineered and manufactured products
  • You have excellent CAD skills (NX is a plus, but not required)
  • You have good sketching and mock-up skills to quickly explore options and communicate with designers and engineers to find optimal solutions to meet project objectives.
  • You have good knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques and experience designing parts for injection molding, structural foam, gas-assist injection molding, sheet metal, etc.
  • Willingness to work on complex instruments, and in large, collaborative teams.
  • You are good at technical problem solving (i.e., elegant assembly details, mechanisms for user interaction areas such as concealed hinges, latches, etc.).
  • You have very good presentation and communication skills, and you show team orientation and a passion for improving customer experience through great design.

Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years experience; including experience designing and detailing products.  Medical device experience is a plus.
  • Willing to travel up to 20%.
