We are searching for someone to partner with the Siemens SI BP R&D System Test organization. As a Test Design Professional at Siemens, you will work within development teams to build and enhance products for the commercial HVAC market. Together we ensure that our products meet or exceed defined requirements.

  • Have demonstrable experience with large, complex building controls systems, networks and technologies (ideally BACnet, but also useful are KNX, DALI, IO, block programming, applications, system configurations and controls).
  • Have a good understanding of usability from a systems perspective, know how all the pieces should fit together, and then enjoy finding ways that they don’t.
  • Enjoy the challenge of finding missing and/or broken features.
  • Like improving and simplifying features, challenging designs and overly complex procedures that could hinder our customers.
  • Enjoy collaborating with development teams in the US as well as globally to fix issues.

This is what our Software System Tester do?

  • Define test strategy and provide estimates on test efforts and progress.
  • Review product specifications with respect to testability and deliver feedback. Work with business owners and leads when such information is unavailable.
  • Document traceability of tests to associated functional and non-functional requirements, supporting efficient and effective coverage.
  • Develop and execute test designs and test cases for verification and validation of systems functionality through manual and automated tests.
  • Develop automated tests and implement automated functional and system testing based upon manual test procedures and end-user workflows.
  • Work with teams to resolve issues spanning one or more products.
  • Report on test status and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with international, multi-site Siemens teams in a SAFe Agile development environment.
  • Follow documented Siemens development processes.
  • Participate in resolution of field issues in existing products.
  • Participate in Peer Reviews.
  • Some opportunity for US or European travel (~5%).

We need team members who bring On the Job experience in...

  • Because this role predominately supports the US market with Desigo Optic new development and Tridium Niagara integration Niagara: designing, installing, troubleshooting, and operating Niagara-based applications and Niagara AX or N4 hardware is a must.
  • System testing, conducting Non-Functional Requirement (NFR), risk based and exploratory testing.
  • Test plan management tools (such as Jazz, Quality Center, Jira, Mantis).
  • Modern operating systems.
  • With any of the following: C/C++/C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.
  • Effective communication and partnership skills in global SAFe Agile development environment.

You will have substantiated Working Knowledge in...

  • In a large scale Software Engineering/IT environment working with multiple teams across the globe is highly desired.
  • In at least one test automation technology and/or platform (such as Selenium, Ranorex, QTP, Jasmine, Microsoft, Google).
  • Virtualization technologies, platforms and concepts.
  • LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies including network diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills. Be able to work with and inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major system issues (with tools like Wireshark).
  • DevOps and Cloud development and testing concepts and supporting Technologies.
Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer science field is preferred, or successful demonstration of capabilities and experience in a job/field directly related to this opportunity.
  • Certification may be required in some areas, where deemed by job assignments.
