Specialist for Management of Rolling Stock Weight Parameters – Engineering

Together with our colleagues abroad, we at Siemens Mobility's Engineering sites in the Czech Republic are involved in developing the modern rolling stock. We address both the overall arrangement, design of particular systems, and summary features. We create innovative products for urban transport and rail transport vehicles – both regional and high-speed units.

We do not see the application of new equipment as a goal but as a target to reach the ultimate utility value of vehicles. To achieve this goal, we need to design our vehicles with optimum weight parameters – they should not excessively overload the infrastructure and should prevent derailment.

What will be your responsibilities?
  • Management of weight and location of the individual component centre of gravity
  • Calculations and analyses of weight, axle load weight, and location of the vehicle's/individual car's centre of gravity
  • Designs aimed at weight optimisation
  • Cooperation with specialists across Engineering (CZ, DE, AT) and suppliers on the overall vehicle arrangement to reach the required axle load weight values and location of the centre of gravity 
  • Regular project monitoring, escalations towards Engineering management, if need be

Required qualifications and experience:
  • University education in a technical field; you can also be a graduated rolling stock enthusiast
  • Or secondary education in a technical field, yet with professional experience  
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel
  • Organisational tools, structured behaviour, and diligence
  • Interest in the rolling stock
  • Active knowledge of English and fundamentals of German, or active knowledge of German and fundamentals of English
  • Presentation and communication skills (also in the foreign language)
  • Understanding of the 3D tool – Creo (or another tool) and SAP is a plus
  • The ability of independent decision-making and responsibility for own decisions
