Job Description

Responsible for the definition and direction of a product or product family throughout all stages of the product life cycle (concept through end-of-life.). Works with product marketing and sales on the product launch and go-to-market strategy to ensure that the product is successful in the marketplace upon release. Continues to work with development, sales, and product marketing to manage the product through its life cycle to ensure it meets established goals for revenue and customer satisfaction. At this level, the employee performs all essential activities as outlined above for a product.
 

Job Description:

The Digital Machine Shop Product Owner (PO) is responsible for the definition and delivery of next-generation digital manufacturing products from a customer and market requirement point of view. The responsibilities are a combination of  Product management and PO roles. The portfolio spans the entire domain of applications which include – Machine Shop Companion, Factory Dashboard, CAM Server delivered on cloud, hybrid, and on-premises.  The role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside the local team, including working with Product Management, Customers, Business Owners, and other stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Product Management to translate business needs into product requirements and feature specifications
  • Work with the larger program management to ensure the program:
  • Meets its business goals
  • The product(s)/features get built
  • The product(s)/features get into production and used by users
  • Own and manage product backlog (in TFS/ Polarion)
  • The PO has a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the team and ensuring Stories meet the user’s needs and comply with the Definition of Done.
  • Prioritize product and Program Increment backlogs with realistic goals
  • Work closely with R&D on SCRUM events
  • Feed global teams with requirements including NFRs
  • Support Product Management on release plans
  • Manage scope of features based on budget
  • Engage with other product owners and architects on integration strategies
  • Coordinate with R&D and central functions - Architecture, UX, Release, Quality management, Agile DevOps
  • Support Siemens SW Q-Gate and release processes
  • Conduct product demos for internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent product on internal and external forums
  • Support customer engagements, POC, escalations
  • Preparation and Participation in PI Planning
    • As part of the planning event, the PO updates the team backlog and typically reviews and contributes to the program Vision, Roadmap, and content presentations.
    • During the event, the PO is involved with story definition, providing the clarifications necessary to assist the team with their story estimates and sequencing. The entire Agile team, which includes the PO, also works together to determine their team PI objectives for the upcoming PI.
  • Testing the Application as a Customer which covers the end-to-end scenarios. Ability to bring in the right set of Use cases, Business Cases will help the Dev Team to thoroughly validate the product.

 

Prerequisites and Essential Functions

  • Domain:
    • Knowledge of manufacturing domain concepts, processes, and use cases
    • Knowledge of Machin shop systems, tools, automation is preferred
    • Knowledge of CAM systems will be good to have.
    • Knowledge of PLM – Product Lifecycle Management will be a plus.

  • Technical skills:
  • Strong requirement management skills
  • Knowledge of distributed architectures, technologies
  • Hands-on with product features, usability testing, quality activities
  • Contribute to testing and verification
  • Highly conversant and experienced with Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and microservices
  • Development background is a plus
