This is role is well-suited to an ambitious professional looking for the next step in your career. As a   Sr. Industrial Designer/User Experience Lead – Point of Care you will be responsible for:

  • Leading product definition for new products and platforms by applying “systems thinking”, user centered design & development methodologies.
  • Leading user and customer research activities to identify user needs/requirements and translating those findings, insights into design solutions.
  • Driving decision making on product features and functionality by collaborating with various functions such as Regulatory, Marketing, Service, Quality, and other functions within R&D.
  • Defining the industrial design, implementing the Siemens Healthineers visual brand language for complex medical devices in the Point of Care portfolio.

Nice to Have:

  • Supporting design and development of user interfaces working with UX designers, software developers. Supporting creation of technical documentation for products such as User manuals, IFUs and Quick Reference Guides, Training and Marketing Collateral. Application of human factors design process, principles, analysis, and usability testing methods.

  • Lead the design of new products from initial concept to production. Develop product concepts, with clear and compelling visual communication, prototype continuously, test designs with users, translate results back into the design process. Create high quality CAD to communicate design intent. Collaborate with engineering and suppliers to create manufacturable solutions.
  • Manage and own the UX of all aspects of a system such as User Interface(s), Industrial Design, Usability, Product Labeling & Documentation, Packaging.
  • Effectively communicate and present design vision, research findings, concepts, detailed design both verbally and visually. Ability to present complex ideas to multiple levels.
  • Familiar with relevant quality regulations (21 CFR Part 820.30), human factors/usability engineering standards (IEC 62366-1, ANSI HE75, ISO 14971), and FDA guidance.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with a range of functions including, but not limited to R&D, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory and Clinical functions.
  • Apply persuasion to change the thinking of and/or gain acceptance from various stakeholders, cross-functional teams and drive decision making while maintaining an effective working relationship.
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to achieve results with minimal oversight. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving, technical judgement, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Experience and requirements for success in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Systems Engineering or related field with relevant or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in medical device or related industry. Demonstrated experience in the capacity as a UX lead for new product development.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) KeyShot, Solidworks, and Rhino.
  • Excellent sketching, form development, CAD modeling, physical (soft & hard) model making skills rendering, and graphic skills is a plus.
  • Flexibility to accommodate and work with teams across different time zones and willing to travel up to 20%.
