This role is based within the Mainline Rail Infrastructure department, which has a client portfolio including Network Rail, Docklands Light Railway and London Underground, and projects including Cross rail, Qatar Education City, East Coast Main Line, Edinburgh Trams, Storebaelt and Inter-connector.

Here is how the programme works:
The successful candidate will complete a structured learning programme over a 4 year period; this could be reduced upon successful completion of various criteria. The Apprentice Program will provide you with an understanding of the business unit; its goals, vision, services, comprising departments, customers, and supply chain. This will enable development of engineering skills, knowledge, and competence in preparation for a role within the engineering group. As an engineering apprentice, you will have the opportunity to move across the various engineering departments at Siemens Rail Infrastructure and this will provide you with key experiences which will ultimately help you make a well-informed decision about your future in engineering.
Here is what you can make a difference in:
As a communications delivery apprentice , you will be working towards gaining the Skills, Knowledge and occupational Competence to show you are capable of:
- Follow the health
and safety legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures,
from the following as applicable to the work location and activities:
Siemens’ safety management system / Relevant sections of the HASWA / COSHH / Safe work plans / SWL / Track access restrictions / Track work instructions / Track possession / Task briefing sheets / Current rule book regulations / Equipment disconnections / Manual handling regulations / RIDDOR / Safety sign regulations / PPE
- Identify and follow
the access requirements related to the following site installation locations:
Trackside / Internal (such as signal box, equipment room) / Areas to which the public have access / Confined spaces / Elevated structures
- Assist in the
removal & installation of the following types of telecom equipment:
Transmission systems / Bearer circuits / Telecoms bearers carrying signalling circuits / SCADA / Operational telephones / Switches and systems (such as telephone exchanges & concentrators) / Railway operational information systems / PA and CCTV / Operational CCTV (such as OPO/DOO) / GSM-R / Other industry specific telecom equipment

- You have strong communication skills both written and verbally
- You have an interest in the railway
Minimum Educational Requirements:
You will have achieved or be on track to achieve at least 5 GCSE's grade 4 or above including maths and English language or 3 A Levels (or BTEC equivalent) at grade C or above.
