Siemens Smart Infrastructure are recruiting a Trainee Controls Engineer to assist project deliveries in the Transmission & Distribution industry to help us find solutions consolidating and enhancing the Nation’s electricity network for a smarter and brighter future tomorrow.

Based at Hebburn near Newcastle upon Tyne the successful candidate will be in Trainee Controls Engineer role with the responsibility for helping upgrade existing infrastructure using Siemens latest portfolio of control systems to ensure future sustainability for T&D network.

Siemens Digital Grid have recently secured a position on the National Grid 5 Year Light Current Framework with another huge opportunity in Operational Tripping System, resiliently providing robust systems with the latest Siemens technology on new National Grid substations and extending the existing infrastructure. A safer and lower carbon project delivery footprint will be adopted.

Siemens latest portfolio of control system devices ensure future sustainability for T&D network, modernising digital initiatives including process bus, digital twin, and cyber security for the future.

You will successfully assist delivering Transmission & Distribution control systems with our end-customers from various domains & disciplines.

As our Trainee Controls Engineer, you will be assisting and providing technical support to Control Engineers on the SCADA systems, control systems and automation systems applied on the UK transmission and distribution network. ;

•           Understand customer technical specifications on allocated projects

•           Assist with the production/checking of functional design specifications and design intent documents

•           Assist with the development and configuration of engineering control systems

•           Assist with test documentation

•           Assist with preFAT and FAT activities

•           Provide SAT support when required

•           Adhere to all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies, including Business Conduct Guidelines & Confidential Information

We are looking for super minds, not superheroes.

•           A minimum qualification of HNC/HND/ Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering

•           Good standard of IT literacy – especially Word, Visio and Excel

•           You will be confident in speaking to customers at all levels of seniority

•           If you have experience in configuration and testing of networks, this would be a plus but is not a necessity
