We seek to fill a personable Material Handler position in Washington D.C. to assist with material identification and validation for planned or unscheduled maintenance activities of our SIEMENS CHARGER locomotives. You will also be responsible for performing cycle counts to ensure that our service orders are available using SAP and other project-specific inventory systems.


Setting a safe work environment and proactively professionally supporting our customers is crucial to the Career. The Material Handler will interact with Material Managers, Site Leaders, and our Customers for the railroad's safe, cost-effective, and efficient operations. Weekly hours are Sunday-Thursday, 8:30 pm-5:00 am EST. Don't worry if you may not have all of the requirements below - we'll train you!


Responsibilities:


• Pack, process, and ship material using SAP and carrier-specific websites/requirements.

• Issue material to the customer using SAP and Project specific inventory systems and instructions.

• Physically and virtually receive, inspect, and stock inbound material.

• Receive and process rotatable parts (cores) returned by the customer per requirements.

• Complete company and customer-required training.

• Understand and Initiate Out of Service (OOS) and emergency notifications when the material is needed to support customer needs.

• Perform investigations when discovering inventory inaccuracies.

 • Write and publish End of Shift (EOS) reports.


Other responsibilities based on Project needs might include, but are not limited to:


o Operate a forklift

o Be certified to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) with a GVWR of less than 26,000lbs

o Maintain ownership and Responsibility for projects assigned by your respective Material Coordinator, Material Manager, or Site Leader.

o Manage inventories that are not visible in SAP (Customer stock, VMI, FMI material, etc.).

o Obtain and uphold certifications as required by site or project (Hazmat, Blue Flag, CPR, etc.)
