Job Description

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for an enthusiastic and conceptually strong System Architect for deploying, implementing and engineering of IT solutions and services (both soft- and hardware) in the framework of our smart building projects.   

The convergence of IT with OT in smart buildings creates both new risks and opportunities. Given the rapid pace of digitalization and increased expectations of interconnectivity of building technologies, a holistic approach to cybersecurity is essential. We develop solutions in the field of remote connectivity and cybersecurity of buildings, in order to develop IoT and cloud-based services as a next step.  

Our division Smart Infrastructure intelligently connects energy systems, buildings, and industries, enhancing the way we live and work to significantly improve efficiency and sustainability. Within our Digital Building and Infrastructure team, we focus on securing buildings through managed IT services.

Will you become our new colleague? 

As a System Architect, you will be lead engineer for the realization of smart buildings at our customers from A to Z through engineering and implementation of both hardware and software. You will be involved in the presales, project execution, and after sales phase of the digitalization projects. You will be actively liaising with technical teams at the customer, serve as technical point of contact during implementation and collaborate intensively with the internal delivery team. 

This entails the following responsibilities: 

  • Conceptualization and identification of the IT needs of the project 
  • Leading the project teams in the definition of project scope, IT requirements and objectives, to ensure technical feasibility 
  • Defining the IT backbone (including infrastructure and network architecture 
  • Liaising with customer’s technical teams and serve as technical point of contact during implementation 
  • Assisting the customer after sales with operational and lifecycle questions about the installations with a focus on cyber security
  • Contributing to the definition of the IT standards we use in our projects.

Curious to know if you’re the colleague we’re looking for? Do you  

  • Hold a master's degree in IT, Computer Sciences or automation
  • Describe yourself as an IT all-rounder/Fullstack with min. 5y of experience in system architecture? 
  • Have a holistic approach on projects and maintain a straight helicopter view?   
  • Apply an open minded, innovative and out of the box mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.   
  • Have strong affinity with software applications and ICT? Windows OS and WSUS, VM ESXi, antivirus, routing and firewalling, 802.1X certificate authentication have no secrets for you? 
  • Do you sufficiently master the communication protocols BACnet, OPC UA and/or Modbus to quickly link an external data source? 
  • Are stress-resilient, patient and highly customer oriented?  
  • Are fascinated by technology with a great eye for detail? 
  • Speak Dutch with a good command of English and/or professional level of French?
