Technical Engineering Manager - Rail Electrification

We are currently seeking a Technical Manager / Engineering Manager to lead the design, implementation, and testing of our DC traction power substation equipment. This role can be based out of our Tualatin, OR office or any other Mobility site (New York, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Jacksonville, Sacramento).

Responsibilities
  • Function as the Main Technical liaison to Customers
  • Handle the development of fully compliant engineering design deliverables/submittals end to end that meet the requirements of the contract
  • Lead all project Engineering Quality Gates and Milestones in EPiQ per the engineering guideline
  • Act as a Requirements Lead in the Requirements Management (RM) process
  • Positively influence engineering design and construction safety performance and aims for zero accidents.
  • Provide Technical leadership for the project engineering team that covers cross-discipline workstreams to provide an integrated solution for the Customer (non-line management)
  • Ensure that any sub-contracted engineering design work is awarded and managed in a professional, efficient manner
  • Management of technical interfaces
  • Conduct and capture monthly project progress meetings with the engineering project team
  • Attend monthly Project Reviews and represent the engineering project team
  • Provide technical support to all Project Manager(s) / Technical Manager(s) / Project Engineer(s) as the need arises
  • Take an active role in the local mentoring of junior/less experienced staff.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Factory Integration Testing (FIT), Field / Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Field / Site Integration Testing (SIT) as required
  • Report all safety and environmental incidents and accidents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel across North America
  • Travel <5% required
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Electrical or Power Engineering degree (Bachelors required, Masters preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) qualified in any US state
  • Proficient in discipline-specific ANSI / IEEE / NEMA / NFPA standards (preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Engineering Management and Substations
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Rail Electrification (preferred)
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of and experience with the following Siemens products is an advantage:
  • 8DA10 Gas-insulated Switchgear (GIS)
  • Sitras® REC diode rectifier
  • Sitras® DSG DC switchgear
  • Sitras® PRO / MDC DC micro-processor protection relay
  • Sitras® SCD short-circuiting device
  • Sitras® SCS-DC station controller
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Visio)
