This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HE&OR/HEOR) Director in Laboratory Diagnostics, you will be responsible for:

The HE&OR Director is responsible for the development and execution of robust health economics and outcomes research strategies, studies and related outputs within the Medical and Clinical Affairs organization with focus in the cardio / metabolic, neurology and liver disease states. This position will be responsible for developing product value propositions and HEOR evidence plans that support product differentiation and optimize customer acceptance and specific market access products in different stages of their life-cycle. This position must be recognized as a strategic partner by medical, commercial and access colleagues and proactively participate in cross-functional teams (including Marketing, R&D, Business Development, Communications, Government and Policy, etc.), demonstrate strong leadership in HEOR, demonstrate strategic clinical, commercial and access thinking and be capable of handling multiple projects. The HEOR Director may also lead interactions with external HEOR agencies synergistically driving towards delivering agreed upon outputs aligned with the HEOR strategy.

This HE&OR Director will:

·        Represent HEOR and work with Medical and Clinical Affairs Teams in the development of medical and HEOR strategies and outputs to demonstrate the value of diagnostic products and cost of disease with a focus on outcomes meaningful to payers, clinical decision-makers and patients.

  • Proactively and innovatively generate and communicate evidence necessary to optimize patient access and overall value of Siemens Healthineers Laboratory Diagnostics products, primarily in the US market.
  • Exhibit global medical leadership in strategic alignment with other areas and proactively proposing new impactful ideas on cross-functional teams including Marketing, R&D, Business Development, Communications, regional Government and Policy functions, etc.
  • Develop HEOR communication/publication strategies for products and effectively translate and communicate impactful research to diverse audiences.
  • Ensure timely development of high quality deliverables (e.g. cost-effectiveness & budget impact models) and effectively translate product’s value proposition to payers, clinical decision-makers and patients. 
  • Lead and handle multiple projects to targeted outputs and timelines as advised as well as interact with external collaboration partners in the execution of HEOR projects ensuring all research is conducted with a high level of scientific rigor.
  • Build robust partnerships (Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), medical experts, thought leaders, etc.) as needed to deliver value messages on unmet need(s) for HE&OR in In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and for product pricing and re-imbursement, and optimal utilization.
  • Publish and present research accomplishments at medical and scientific conferences and forums.

Required skills to have for the success of this role


Competencies and Key Skills

  • Expert level knowledge of health economic and outcomes research methods, including study design and analysis, patient-reported outcomes, and economic modeling.
  • Superior capability to translate and communicate HEOR to any audience, in various global regions
  • Strong commercial and clinical strategic attitude.
  • Experience with launch of new product(s) preferable.
  •  Ability to travel 20%-30%.

Education

·        Graduate degree in a relevant subject area focused on health economics, outcomes research, health services research, epidemiology, etc. (e.g. M.D., Ph.D., MHA, MPH, PharmD, etc.)

Experience

·        Minimum of 10+ years in an IVD or related industry or a managed care setting in the direct conduct of health economics and outcomes research studies.
