This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Manager of our Usability & Solutions Definition Team within our Customer Solutions Definition and Validation organization in Lab Diagnostics (LD), you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of UX & UI designers as part of a cross-functional development team to define workflows and software user interfaces for complex systems that will allow for safe, efficient, intuitive, and satisfying user interactions.
  • Being the UX subject matter expert to provide guidance and technical expertise for all user experience activities including user research and testing, interactive design, and regulatory compliance for usability practices.
  • Partnering with Requirements and Marketing teams to define and design new product features that enhance user workflow.
  • Coaching your team to plan and conduct software and hardware usability studies, surveys, and interviews with customers and customer representatives. Perform heuristic evaluations.  Document and present findings from UX evaluations and recommendations to teams to drive product improvements throughout development lifecycle.
  • Leading the Development of Software Functional Specifications that incorporate Usability concepts.

  • Leading and developing successful UI design teams with the ability to advocate for and institute good design and UX practices within R&D organizations.
  • Experience with UX research methods that lend themselves to an agile environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and product lines.
  • Experience defining workflows, personas, and customer journeys.
  • Knowledge of medical device regulations pertaining to usability.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% (NY/NJ/DE), occasional US and international travel

Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • Degree in human computer interaction, human factors engineering, computer science, interaction design or similar.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating at least 5-10 years of experience building successful user interfaces for instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and UX tools (Adobe XD, Axure, HTML, CSS).
  • Proven ability to set schedules, keep commitments, and manage internal and external resources.
