T researches future technologies with internal and external partners such as universities and research institutes. The core of the work is the transfer of research results into current and future product developments via prototype implementation and technology consulting for the software development departments of various business units of Siemens AG and its subsidiaries.

As an Embedded Linux Software Consultant you are part of a highly qualified team in an international environment (including Germany, USA, China) with a strong network within and outside the Siemens Group. The position offers you technical insights into various domains and projects: from industrial automation to rail technology to smart grids and smart cities as well as medical technology. In addition, Siemens AG offers flexible working time models with home office options and a wide range of training courses and there are many medium to long-term development opportunities in the Siemens Group.

  • You will define and lead technical consulting projects in the field of software development with a focus on Linux for internal customers
  • You link the needs of industrial software projects with existing open source components and support you in the selection, integration and further development of open source software
  • You will also help project teams to live an open and collaborative work culture and to implement open source best practices
  • You evaluate and use new technologies and software engineering methods (e.g. DevOps), bring your own ideas and implement them
  • You design and work on research topics in the field of Linux-based real-time systems, virtualization, IoT connectivity and related topics
  • The realization of prototypes is part of your area of responsibility
  • You work on open source / Linux foundation projects
Your profile for "making the future possible".
  • You were able to successfully complete your university degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics or engineering
  • You have many years of experience in the design and implementation of software systems in C / C ++ and / or Python, ideally in the field of IoT and edge systems
  • Verifiable contributions to research and development in the fields of IoT systems and applications are desirable
  • You are familiar with the open source culture and the associated code sharing platforms (e.g. Github, Gitlab)
  • Experience in one or more of these areas is also desirable: real-time Linux system design and analysis, kernel development, continuous integration, automated testing (LAVA in particular)
  • Very good English skills complete your profile. In addition, German proficiency would be beneficial.
