We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Quantity Surveyor within our Rolling Stock Customer Services business based in Crawley to support our Thameslink contract. You will be responsible for providing a dedicated and professional post contract commercial management service as part of an established and experienced commercial team.

This is your role

  • Work with the Project Management Team to ensure delivery of assigned work packages, primarily:
    • Administration of the train performance regime in line with contract schedules
    • Collation and submission of Additional Services performed by maintenance team outside contract scope, and agreement with customer
    • Collation and submission of Claims to suppliers in the event of non-fulfilment of their contractual obligations, and agreement with suppliers
    • Preparation / estimation of work packages for change orders to vary contract scope
  • Develop and implement claim strategies towards customers and suppliers
  • Document all Additional Services / claims / change orders in a structured way using applicable tools
  • Ensure processes and documents adhere to the appropriate company and contract standards
  • Drafting and submission of project contractual correspondence and notifications
  • Work and collaborate with key stakeholders e.g. production, engineering, customer, suppliers
  • Provide input to internal and external financial and commercial reports as required
  • Provide contractual and commercial support to wider Project Management Team

What do you need to qualify for this role?

  • Prior experience in a quantity surveyor / contract management role on a large-scale project; experience ideally gained in a similar or related industry e.g., rail, engineering
  • HND / Degree qualified and hold or working towards professional qualification (RICS, IACCM or similar)
  • Good understanding of contractual terms and conditions
  • Very well organised self-starter, able to assign his/her own priorities and operate independently
  • Ability to influence others, generate new insights, and take an independent view on key issues
  • A clear team player who can work effectively in diverse surroundings and is able to prioritise effectively
  • Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong computing skills in MS word, excel, project and MS Outlook
