Position Overview:

Siemens Industry – Machine Tool Systems is searching for an Account Manager for our West Coast U.S. territory including the Pacific Northwest and western Mid-West. Target customers are CNC machine builders with manufacturing sites in the United States. The candidate ideally will be a located close to a major airport with good access to the above territories.

This is a key role within the Siemens Motion Controls Machine Tool Systems segment for our continued success on the West Coast. The candidate will be responsible for implementing the corporate strategy selling automation hardware and increasingly software with an existing customer base and to develop new accounts in alignment with annual sales goals and objectives. 

The ideal candidate will be a curious, self-driven individual willing to walk the unknown path. The candidate will also be a team player. The long-term success of Siemens originates from hard work as a team, passion for our Siemens (digital) products and deeply caring for our customers success. An account team (Customer Excellence Representative and Application Engineer) is assigned to this role. The candidate will be responsible for utilizing the account team in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, close collaboration with our vertical industry sales team in Aerospace, Space, Automotive, etc. is expected.

Building a driven, highly successful, future focused and sustainable sales team, we are looking at diverse talent with background in Manufacturing, Automation, Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, Fabrication, Digitalization, Industry 4.0 etc.

This position has great exposure to our executive management and thus provides excellent opportunities for talents with career aspirations within Siemens domestically and globally.

Siemens has fully adopted to the new way of working. This position will provide a great balance of working remotely and virtually as well as local travel by car and cross-regional travel by plane. Current travel is estimated to be 20-30%. Once the current situation normalizes it supposed to stabilize at around 40-50%.

The candidate must be willing to relocate to any of the above-mentioned locations, ideally in central California.


  • Take over a multi-million-dollar territory with existing high-profile accounts and an expectation to expand the business with new accounts
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to ensure achievement of assigned business goals
  • Sell the Siemens hardware and software portfolio to domestic CNC Machine Tool Builders
  • Advise customers in the selection of suitable Siemens products and services to increase the value of their product
  • Manage the customer relationship through the build life cycle in cooperation with other Siemens departments, especially utilizing your account team as outlined above
  • Develop / build / cultivate long-term relationships with key contacts within the customer organization
  • Provide internal guidance to other Siemens business units to achieve revenue objectives and increasing of overall Siemens share of wallet

Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • 8 years total work experience
  • 5 years of successful sales experience in Industrial Manufacturing, preferably in the Machine Tool business - ideally – with a solid understanding of CNC machines
  • Great stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Working in a matrix team environment
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and follow through in developing new opportunities
  • Experience working self-managed, focusing on achievement of provided business targets
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Core automation and drives experience
  • Complex system selling / value selling
  • Excellent communication & presentation Skills across all levels of a customer organization
  • Travel: 50%

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Knowledge in growth industries and technologies (Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, Electronics, etc.)
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering preferred
  • Individual must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Individual must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the required Siemens vehicle plan
