Position Overview

Siemens Healthcare Laboratory (SHL) offers high-complexity diagnostic development and biomarker testing in support of pharmaceutical company-sponsored clinical research programs. Our end-to-end diagnostic services help create breakthroughs in precision medicine and solve key challenges in laboratory diagnostics and drug development. We are looking for a Sr. Scientific Project Manager to take ownership and responsibility of biomarker development and testing projects, to utilize tools and processes for resource optimization, and to ensure project budgets, timelines, and key deliverables to our Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industry clients are met.


  • Lead biomarker development and testing projects, facilitating smooth transfer of new biomarker assays through all stages from prototyping to clinical testing and potential commercialization as laboratory developed tests.
  • Develop project plans and requirements, monitor timelines and deliverables, and ensure project progress meets customer expectations and follows established product development process.   
  • Facilitate effective communication with internal R&D, clinical operations, quality/regulatory, and commercial teams, and manage client-facing meetings and communication.
  • Communicate status of projects and programs to leadership team on a monthly basis.
  • Use project management and communication tools effectively, optimize internal resource allocations, and identify and proactively help resolve project challenges through appropriate escalations.
  • Challenge the status quo and seek continuous improvements for the organization.
  • Contribute to business operations and strategy.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, life sciences, or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of immunology, molecular, and/or cellular biology.
  • Min 5  years of combined experience in biomarker and diagnostic assay development, drug development, and technical project management.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Good understanding of drug development processes in the Pharmaceutical industry along with diagnostics development experience in regulated settings. Previous employment in Laboratory Diagnostics or Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industries preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with focus on deliverables and milestones.
  • Flexible interpersonal skills and able to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excited to work in smaller, dynamic team within the setting of a larger, multi-national corporation.
