The Scientist I is part of the dedicated Point of Care (POC) R&D Assay Development and Shared Scientific Services team responsible for coordinating support activities for in vitro diagnostics (IVD) instruments and consumables. The team works closely with R&D, Service, Manufacturing, and Quality to investigate and drive corrective actions in response to field issues, resolve manufacturing obsolescence and manufacturing quality issues, lead design change projects aimed at improving product quality and reliability as well as cost reduction programs.
The successful candidate will be a strong contributor within the R&D function and work and grow within a team of scientists and engineers focused on the continuous improvement and field support of medical devices and consumables currently offered by Siemens Healthineers POC. The responsibilities of the role include:
- Executing experiments to assess product performance, reliability and for continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborations with R&D personnel to develop and execute test methods and protocols.
- Performing data analysis, supporting root cause investigations, and writing technical reports.
- Supporting the maintenance and troubleshooting of lab instruments
- Demonstrating GDP and GLP and supporting internal audits

- GDP and GLP knowledge
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Minitab
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Experience with use of Agile methodologies preferred
- Ability to multi-task and to support multiple project teams
- Experience in sensing technologies, materials chemistry, process development and manufacturing preferred
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
- B.S. in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, BioMedical Engineering or Biology with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- This position will require in-person presence at the Norwood, MA location
