Application Engineer - Solar PV

Job Description

Siemens Smart Infrastructure Distribution System covers a comprehensive end-to-end product and solution portfolio including packaging turnkey installation and commissioning, repair, including but not limited to medium and large power transformers, high voltage circuit breakers, medium and low voltage switchgear and breakers, motor control centers, and protection and control systems, power equipment center in all market verticals.

Function:

Promote business generation for Siemens Photovoltaic (PV) inverters and inverter-stations portfolio that includes String inverter, Central inverters and Inverter skids and associated services such as, Preventative maintenance, commissioning, etc.

Prepare competitively priced customer proposals incorporating Siemens solutions that best fit our customer needs.

Work closely with Siemens Business Development Managers, Legal Counsel, Project Management, Sales and customers in different markets on technical, legal, contractual and commercial issues to generate bookings for Siemens.

Ability to adapt to continuous improvement and development of new generation of the product portfolio to suit dynamic market and technology evolution.

Specific tasks:

  • Participates in the design of stand-alone and semi-complex package solutions of inverters and inverter stations and general proposal package for Solar PV inverters, AC/DC Storage applications both in String and Centralized topology.
  • Works with product development to ensure compliance on the product against customer requirements. Also provide inputs on market trend for product development
  • Work with our services organization in offering service solutions related to the product offered that includes Maintenance programs, commissioning, install, etc.
  • Participates in tracking semi-complex orders to ensure that equipment, cost and delivery objectives are met by responding to customers in a time efficient manner.
  • Participates in keeping records of semi-complex specification costs and price estimates.
  • Participates in technical, commercial, contractual and legal negotiations to ensure a significant proportion of bids convert to orders.

Siemens Process, Tools, and Methodologies Utilized:

  • Web-based CRM tool to receive and track work assignments
  • COMPAS to prepare technical offers for Distribution products
  • LOA Process to receive pricing approval
  • PVSyst for modeling

Mandatory Skills

  • Ability to read single-line drawings, three-line drawings, basic General arrangement drawings and site layout drawings
  • Basic understanding of Solar Power Plant starting from Generation (PV modules) to Point of Interconnection (POI)
  • Proficient with MS Visio and ability to generate drawings (electrical and layout) with it.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in Electrical industry or Solar industry

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Engineering

This position requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.

Preferred Skills

  • Self-motivated and demonstrated desire and ability to influence others for increased business generation
  • Prior work experience in Solar industry.
  • Prior customer facing roles on the sales or field support is a plus
  • Product knowledge on the remaining BOP items in a Solar plant, like AC/DC Combiners, MV Transformers, etc
  • Competitor Product knowledge on Inverter stations
