The Role

You will spend 12 months working with our industry experts on groundbreaking innovative projects to find opportunities that support our global businesses. You'll make meaningful contributions whilst developing your professional expertise in a dynamic team environment. 
Based in the Innovation team, this role reports directly to our software lead engineers. While day-to-day responsibilities will vary based on the nature of the project, you’ll build your foundational knowledge, professional skills, and experiences to take your career in many different directions. 

In your role, you’ll help to drive projects through to completion by analysing and presenting key data and improving our products & offerings. By doing this you will be supporting both our internal teams and our clients. You will be using Machine Learning and predictive modelling to foresee and solve potential customer problems before they happen. 

Entry Requirements: You must be studying towards your full BSc, MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or a similar course. 

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Is a creative thinker with great attention to detail and is able to work under pressure.
  • Is able to learn new skills quickly, through informal learning and is self-motivated and able to work in a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Is action orientated, takes ownership and is proactive in delivering against commitments.
Technical knowledge required:
  • Familiar with the industry relevant data science techniques as well s having experience working on large-scale data science/data analytics projects.
  • Has knowledge in Machine Learning or Natural Language Processing (NLP).
  • Has an experience within ML libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Has an understanding of one or more structured data formats (JSON, XML, relational databases, spreadsheets, etc.) and ability to analyse, clean or visualise data (for example using Python, spreadsheets, SQL or other technologies).
  • Has knowledge of cloud based systems such as AWS, GCP and Azure.

What else do I need to know?

Closing Date: Applications should be received no later than 31 January 2022 for standard admissions, but later applications may be considered depending on whether there are any remaining places.

Duration: The internship will begin in September 2022, and we can be flexible about the start date. The length of the internship is 12 months.

Location: This internship will be at our Poole office, based 2.5 miles outside Poole city centre (with frequent direct bus services). Poole is also conveniently located within half an hour from Bournemouth. With its location on the south coast of England, Poole is known for its large natural harbour, sandy beaches, rich history and many outdoor attractions to enjoy.
