This position is located in Walpole MA.

This position responsibilities include leadership and development of people and processes involved in the Manufacturing Support of existing commercialized products produced by Walpole Manufacturing.  The incumbent will direct the strategic and tactical efforts of a team of approximately 15 to 20 managers, scientists and technologists supporting the manufacturing plant in the production and investigation of issues for existing commercialized reagent products.  The incumbent will ensure accurate communication of manufacturing status of production issues.

This position includes the handling of all types of materials, including hazardous and DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) controlled materials.

This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for:

�  Participating in investigations and projects of significant strategic importance to Operations and DX.  As a manager of managers, it is anticipated that the incumbent will also coach others on his/her team to lead projects and bring to resolution investigations of issues commensurate with their experience and expertise.

�  May also have Product Health Team, Change Control Board, Design Review Board and / or Validation Review Board responsibilities.  It is anticipated that s/he will participate and lead Operations focused discussions prior to and during existing product changes.

�  Demonstrating leadership in the coaching and development of functional teams for Manufacturing support

�  Champion Process Improvements in the production of existing commercialized products, eliminating waste and variability.

�  Directing and developing teams of scientists involved in support of existing commercialized products in manufacturing.  Maintain staffing of his / her teams.

�  Having an exceptional understanding of the scientific elements of each product, including but not limited to product production, commercial use, and regulation.

�  Having an exceptional understanding of scientific investigative methods and a thorough understanding of analytical methods and statistical tools required to investigate and mitigate production and product issues.

�  Lead within plant or multi-site teams that include Process Engineering, Manufacturing, QC and/or R&D in the resolution of existing product issues and maintenance of product production.

�  Directing the completion of investigations and projects.  Directly supports the most complex procedures to support product maintenance and modifications.   Coaches compliant change validations and verifications.

�  Contributions to some combination of technologies, publications, industry workshops, patent and trade secrets are implied.

�  Demonstrating and applying advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area managed and exceptional knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact.   Demonstrating advanced understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, and performance management.

�  Typically manages exempt-level managers and senior level individual contributors.

Key Working Relationships:

Multiple function, worldwide inter-organizational and external contacts.

Required Education, Skills & Experience: 

B.S., M.S. or Ph.D  Advance degree strongly preferred.

Minimum of 10+ years of broad experience in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or chemical industry with at least 8 of those years in production, new product development, and design transfer, design change and support in a GMP environment. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. 

Ability to delegate effectively.

Must pass a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) background check.
