Siemens Healthcare Laboratory (SHL), located in Berkeley, CA, is CLIA accredited and state licensed clinical laboratory. SHL enables access to novel technologies through the validation and implementation of new assays for diagnostic or clinical trial use. The laboratory provides testing services for clinical trials, clinical laboratory diagnostic testing, and pharmaceutical partnerships.

This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Technology Transfer Specialist, you will be responsible for:

Providing oversight to assay optimization, implementation, validation plan design, validation documentation, and quality management program development.  Responsible for assuring that assay implementation is compliant with CLIA and state regulations.

Oversight of transfer of reagent raw material specifications and reagent preparation knowledge from R&D for operational testing.

Performs highly complex clinical laboratory analyses.  Responsible for novel technology transfer of highly complex test methods directly from research, development or independent entities into the clinical laboratory setting for regulated operational testing services.

  • You will serve as a representative of clinical laboratory on R&D teams for new technologies prior to assay transfer.
  • You will implement the transfer of new assays into the CLIA lab including the transfer of reagent preparation protocols, while ensuring that QT objectives are met.
  • You will manage the validation of new technology and assays in SHL, including writing of protocols, validation reports, proficiency testing requirements, equipment maintenance, and quality management program design.
  • You will establish and implement a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed; establish the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance; ensure these levels are maintained throughout the entire handling, testing, and reporting processes.

Required skills to have for the success of this role

·         Possess or are eligible for a California CLS, MLS, or CGMBS license

·         8 – 10 years relevant work experience

·         Works effectively in teams and thrives in a collaborative environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to establish productive working relationships internally and externally.

·         Ability to direct a team to accomplish project goals.

·         Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of technical, scientific, and logistical expertise.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High degree of comfort with a variety of technology solutions.
