Job Description

Siemens Large Drives Applications (LDA) engineers and produces heavy-duty electrical drive systems for medium and high voltage ranges: electrical motors, converters and generators. Additionally we offer special large drives for ships, mines and rolling mills. This is your role. What part will you play?

Mission
  • Early involvement of Procurement and suppliers in the MV Motors related parts development. In addition, monitoring of current product manufacturing processes in order to minimize the overall costs.
  • Taking account of the interface partner functions for (product) development.
  • 'Developing the Indian supply base for Norwood's Purchase Volume in assigned mechanical commodities that are feasible for export to US and global.
  • Planning, realization and controlling of globally aligned projects and measures to increase the Norwood's Purchasing Volume from India and to improve supply chain performance in regards to productivity, assets, quality, availability and innovation.
Dimensions
  • Responsible for Identifying Capable and Competitive supplier in India for all mentioned commodities and ensure smooth implementation by generating cost savings for Norwood plant.
  • Perform basic supplier audits & assessment in order to access capabilities and ensure smooth transition from Global Suppliers to India suppliers. Manage the entire value chain from RFQ to shipment and ongoing quality issues.
Contacts
  • Cross-functional partners, in particular Product and Project Management, R&D, Engineering and Production as well as SCM functions such as CVE, CM, CPO, SQM in China and all global LDA locations incl. HQ.
  • PE partners, Corporate Commodity Engineers, Corporate Technology, PE experts at LDA HQ.
  • External partners (Suppliers) and PE network partners cross-organizational within Siemens.
Early Procurement Involvement
  • Be actively involved in the product development/manufacturing process as well as
  • implement cost reduction measures (design to cost, target costing, standardization, key
  • data, etc.) to reduce the overall material costs. Perform basic supplier audits & assessment in order to access capabilities and ensure smooth transition from Global Suppliers to China suppliers.
  • Closely align with R&D community in the BU and Procurement (Commodity Managers, Buyers). Contribute expertise to the Siemens-wide PE network, focusing on certain commodities within the assigned Division/BU.
Early Supplier Integration
  • Include suppliers and contribute to cost-benefit analysis workshops, innovation workshops and concept competitions with key suppliers in order to concentrate on the key functions of the components/projects. Assess and develop suppliers from the technological standpoint (if necessary, jointly with interface partners) in order to concentrate on the best suppliers.
  • Support GVS activities of LDA HQ with regard to identification/ nomination of capable and competitive suppliers in China/ Asia.
  • Organizes supplier related activities e.g. prototype sourcing, concept competitions.
Supplier Management: Technology and Analysis
  • Assess and develop suppliers from the technological standpoint (if necessary, jointly with interface partners) in order to concentrate on the best suppliers.
  • Conduct and provide market information/analyses on international technology and price trends in order to obtain new suppliers and new technologies in the supply chain.
Alignment of Technology Roadmaps
  • Introduce and follow up given cross-functional Procurement strategies to ensure the linkage of commodity strategies and technological market trends.
  • Challenge requirements and related costs as basis for proposals of DtC measures to R&D.
Strategy deployment
  • Drive sourcing decisions with interface partners in order to incorporate technological know-how and safeguard security strategies.
  • Ensure data transparency and report relevant procurement KPI (e.g. CNI, eAuctions, Supply Base Optimization, GVS share) in assigned commodities to ensure business planning and target achievement and to make results transparent
  • Manage and develop Indian supplier base in commercial issues, supplier qualification, development and overall relationship management

What you need to make real what matters.

  • At least 10 years experience with min 5 years in Manufacturing/R&D/ENG
  • Handled PE activities, Worked in Manufacturing, Supplier Innovation or Procurement
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering / Economics or equivalent
