You are a sophisticated software engineer who can craft and improve build systems for a powerful physics simulation product that runs both on the desktop and on the cloud. You care about improving the efficiency of over 200 developers in a meaningful way.

  • Evaluate new releases of existing compilers and new compilers. Take the lead in deciding if and when to support them. Advance the adoption of compiler updates across teams.
  • Track recent compiler releases and update our code base to keep up. Maintain and improve the compilation of third-party dependencies.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors to fix bugs in compilers.
  • Cooperate to define operational procedures related to build and compilation.
  • Triage compilation failures, including compiler bugs, coding issues and end-user issues.
  • Educate colleagues on new compilers with documentation and personal support. Assist developers with their code as C++ standards improve, and train developers on clang tools to improve their code quality.

Required Experience:
  • Serious coding chops (!) with compilers: Linux Clang, Windows Clang, and Linux Gnu
  • Detailed expertise with Make, CMake, Gradle, Git and Visual Studio/MSBuild
  • Multi-platform Windows and Linux savvy
  • Facility with Clang static-analysis and sanitizer tools
  • Degree or commensurate experience in computer science, engineering or mathematics with 3+ years of post-academic experience in software design and development
  • Proficiency with C++ (including innovations in the C++ 17 and 20 standards), Python, Java, csh/bash and Microsoft runtimes
  • Ability to communicate sophisticated technical issues concisely—and graciously!—with different teams
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Client-server communications, parallel programming and HPC environments
  • Expertise in physics and scientific software applications
  • Adept with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with continuous automation tools like Jenkins
  • Contributions to open-source projects
