Position Overview

Digital Grid Software is accelerating advancement of its grid simulation software and worldwide scaling plans. To support the growth strategy, the Technical Sales Consultant (TSC) role will enable Siemens’s regional teams and partners across the world to develop and successfully close new opportunities and intensify current customer relations. 

In this global role (with a focus on the Americas) the TSC will support the opportunity development as well as the proposal preparation for our industry leading power system simulator software (i.e. PSS®) .

The TSC will also actively promote our products and articulating our value propositions during prospect visits (virtually or in person) but also during conferences, fairs, webinars, user group meetings etc. The technical sales consultant plays an important role identifying the customer needs and map these to our offerings to articulate value propositions .

Based on customer interaction, the TSC will collect customer feedback (market/technology/regulatory trends) , to support the prioritization of future developments.

This position is a technical expert function, suitable for an engineer with hands on experience in power system planning and/or protection relay engineering who is looking to transition into a technical consulting function. You will be responsible to support worldwide growth and a positive customer success experience.

Your responsibilities

  • You develop and support business growth in the regions by providing technical expert knowledge around Power System Simulation Software, especially PSS®CAPE and PSS®E.
  • You visit customers virtually or in person to explore their needs to better judge on aspects of product and solution integration, as well as to update them on new products & features.
  • You influence partners and the Customer’s “Decision makers” and you support and influence on pre-sales specification and develop success-oriented strategies for the marketed product and project business.
  • You will be delivering compelling product presentations & demonstrations for PSS®CAPE and PSS®E
  • You support the creation of technical proposals
  • You act as focal point in building trusted advisor relationships with the customers and Siemens regional office
  • You provide feedback to the larger software team based on industry trends and customer knowledge
  • You continually look for opportunities to improve products, processes, and customer experience
  • You proactively seek most up to date technology and industry trends. Welcomes change as means to innovate.
  • You develop and support customer software trial/evaluation activities

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Ability to communicate highly technical information clearly and concisely to peers and customers verbally, in written communications and learning and training situations.
  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field with 3-5+ years working experience with utility working experience a bonus.
  • You have a growth mindset and are curious to learn state-of-the art power system modeling and analysis
  • You understand client’s hidden needs, use cases, associated pains and gains, and you feel at ease to articulate and demo how our products and services can solve them
  • Strong people skills and engaging presentation and written communications skills.
  • Extremely partner-focused, proactive, and effective within a team environment.
  • Understanding of power system software (Transmission Protection, Distribution Protection, short-circuit, etc.)
  • Experience in the use of power system simulation software like PSS®E, PSS®CAPE, PSS®SINCAL or others strongly preferred
  • Strong business and industry specific acumen
  • Must be willing and able to travel 25+% of the time.
