Responsible for generation of transparency in production processes along the value chain, related costs and improvement potentials, Cost Analysis and Optimization(CAO) and supply chain productivity improvement measures (SPI)
Partner of Procurement, in particular PE, in negotiations, partner of R&D and System CVE in Design to Cost and Standardization (DtV)
Dimensions :This position is responsible for Target costs, total Cost of product/supplied good, CNI, CTG and implementing other CVE levers
Lifecycle cost and related PVO for Electronics/Electrical/Electro-mechanical parts related to Motors/ Drives locally as well as globally Roles and responsibilities:Cost and Value Engineering
Contribute to competitiveness and profitability of Siemens products and solutions through application of Cost and Value Engineering levers and methods.
Contribute expertise to the Siemens-wide CVE network, focusing on certain commodities within the assigned Division/BU.
Collect, maintain and scale up knowledge about production technology, system architecture and inherent costing.
Transparency of production processes
Maintain knowledge about production technology and costing in specific material field.
Apply appropriate tools for Cost Analysis and Optimization (CAO), Supply Chain Productivity Improvement (SPI) and Design to Value (DtC) along the PLM / PM process
Target Costing and Pricing (TCP)
Provide benchmarking information on component cost, system cost and underlying value (incl. evaluation of system architectures and related costs) to Product Management, Project Management and R&D.
- Provide bottom-up should-cost indication of cost targets for new products / systems based on calculated cost models per function and aggregated costs per component - Evaluate feasibility of material cost targets and derive respective cost and value targets - Propose alternative manufacturing scenarios
Design to Value (DtV)
(Re-)calculate cost baselines and regular cost updates for system / component costs according to design maturity.
- Challenge requirements and propose design options and changes in system / components architecture (Dtx measures) to R&D and evaluate the related cost impact.
- Promote and drive Standardization and Harmonization to leverage pooling potentials
Supply Chain Productivity Improvement (SPI) –
Generate cost transparency in planned / existing supply chain setup incl. Value Stream Analysis (VSA) and Value Stream Design (VSD) according to Siemens Production System (SPS) - Coach suppliers in technology-based and lean optimization of their supply chain.
- Support Core-/ Non-Core discussions and facilitate make or buy decisions by contributing underlying cost information and CVE know-how. (e.g. offshoring, supplier location change).
Cost Analysis and optimization for Negotiation (CAO) –
Active Procurement support in fact-based supplier negotiations by contributing should-cost calculation based on a detailed understanding of the cost drivers along the supply chain. (incl. raw material cost, labor rates, scrap rates, cycle times, machine depreciation, overhead rates)
Networking and mutual support –
Drive CVE cross-company network and cross-company knowledge exchange. - Foster a "givers" mindset in company-internal activities and contribute own expertise in cross-company collaboration models - Apply existing project management capabilities in cross-functional CVE projects
Cost and value models and design rules –
Generate and scale up parametric cost models as well as design rules that use information on specific production processes, production equipment, suppliers and related costs.
- Generate, maintain and provide benchmark data on design characteristics (e.g. material thickness, surface quality, curvature) and related costs.
Be coach and mentor to other CVE colleagues in area of expertise of manufacturing process and MV related drives / Motors appropriately.
Professional Variety of Business
