This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Biochemist II you will be responsible for:

  • Formulation and testing reagents and calibrators for Atellica, Syva, Advia, Immulite and OEM product lines.
  • Following area procedures and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Proper documentation of production steps in batch records by following Good Documentation Practices.
  • Complying with the quality system and regulatory agencies: FDA, DEA, ISO, OSHA, etc.
  • Interaction with cross functional teams including Technical Operations, R&D, Planning, etc.
  • Partnership with support personnel to troubleshoot formulation processes.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in the formulation area.
  • Identifying problems as they occur and suggesting appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.
  • Seeking advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from others.

  • Seeking advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from others.   Manufacture and test Chemistry & Immunochemistry reagents/calibrators for Syva, Advia, Immulite, OEM, DM, and Vista product lines.
  • Drives, executes, and implements compliance initiatives with quality system and regulatory agencies: FDA, DEA, ISO, OSHA, etc.
  • Drives, executes, and implements regulatory compliance and quality improvement projects (i.e. GP-108 projects, MES, Analyzer conversion, etc).
  • Drives, executes, and implements QTP initiatives in the organization.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams including Technical Operations, R&D, Planning, etc.
  • Drives, executes, and implements lean manufacturing efforts, process improvements, cost reduction efforts, and supply chain initiatives.
  • Handles controlled substances within regulation – Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Criminal background checks are required.                                                                    
  • Independently performs full range of standard work for the professional field. Refers complex, unusual problems to others. Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.  Provides general guidance or train support and/or professional staff.

Required skills to have for the success of this role

·        Desirable experiences may include: formulation, troubleshooting, production environment, regulatory requirements, SAP, Documentum, Microsoft software, good documentation practices, good manufacturing practices, general laboratory practices and chemical handling. 

  • Candidate must also have strong communication abilities, interpersonal skills, strong work ethics and be a team play

·       DEA background check clearance is required.

·       BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.

·        Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience.
