Senior Systems Architect

Job Description

Siemens Parcel Logistics LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Architect, to guide teams of subject matter experts (SME) responsible for designing the next generation mail automation systems.  In this position, you will work with multiple cross functional engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Software and Simulation) utilizing leading edge technologies to develop the next generation of mail processing and sortation systems. You will also interface with and work directly with customers on requirements, and with project managers to coordinate technical project activities.
 
The primary responsibilities include:
 
• Guide design teams in generating concepts that can meet challenging schedules with reliable cost considerations.
• Update technical specifications as they relate to individual products and total sorting system solutions, as well as maintaining working knowledge of third-party supplied equipment.
• Solve complex technical and logistics customer issues for ongoing projects.
• Interface with external suppliers to develop in depth knowledge of their product portfolios and maintain knowledge of relevant products available on the market.
• Oversee design teams in the development of technical proposals which may include engineering drawings, conceptual layouts, component specifications, detailed deployment schedules, etc.
• Conduct customer presentations of proposed solutions, product demonstration, and technical workshops. 
• Serve as the technical lead for R&D projects developing product prototypes and proof-of-concepts.
• Lead the development of cost effective system proposals addressing customer requirements by integrating both our own contents and OEM system components, creating BOMs, developing pricing estimates, staffing requirements, and scheduling activities.
• Represent the company in customer-facing technical meetings supporting both the project management and the sales team as a technical expert.
• Ensure discipline related technical processes, procedures, and best practices are followed in engineering activities.

Desired Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
• A BS degree in Mechanical, Software, or Industrial engineering
• A minimum of 8 years experience in technical design and development
• Experience working with mail logistics customers to develop automation concepts that replace manual operations.
• Experience with mail processing equipment and parcel sortation systems.
