We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join our Siemens Rolling Stock business. In this role you will lead and direct the allocated Engineering Resources in providing the necessary business support and engineering inputs, for the development and delivery of solutions for identified fleet modifications and upgrades, arising fleet support areas, and supporting the proactive identification and development of new engineering technologies and associated platform solutions.

This is your role

  • Manage the team’s engineering activities and deliverables to conclusion in an effective and timeous manner, ensuring all due processes and governance are applied to all departmental outputs
  • Provide engineering information and support to other departments as required
  • Proactively work with other departments, including Sales, Projects, Fleet Service, Procurement, etc., in the identification and planning of workload requirements
  • Implement effective planning and allocation of team resources to meet planned and forecast workloads, and where required engage with procurement services to define and obtain 3rd party engineering support services
  • Working with the Head of Innovation & Platform Management and/or their representatives, to lead and support engagement with internal and external parties on the identification and development of new engineering technologies which could be beneficial to Siemens and support the proactive development of all asset plans and associated modification, upgrade and digital portfolios
  • Work with the appropriate Asset Management and Assurance (AMA) Department Heads and/or representatives to effectively identify, plan and distribute workload to the appropriate elements of the AMA team
  • Actively engage and monitor industry practices to identify technologies, innovations, processes and systems which could be developed and maximised to improve rolling stock performance, efficiency and safety whilst meeting Siemens business objectives

What do you need to qualify for the role

Essential:

  • Experience of Engineering and/or Team management
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent team management skills
  • Excellent customer and stakeholder interfacing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent workload planning and delivery experience

Preferred:

  • Previous experience at Engineering Manager Level
  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Rolling Stock knowledge and experience, or can demonstrate transferable engineering knowledge and experience within a relevant industry
  • In-depth knowledge of rolling stock systems and technologies and/or similar comparable fields
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplined Engineering team
  • Experience in project/work planning and delivery
